Would Anyone Be Interested in Returning to Sweet Valley University?

I know, I know. I post that I'll be back and then disappear yet again. My bad. But, I was going through some of my old posts and realized that I started Sweet Valley University and never went back to the series. Years ago, and I mean years ago, I found most of the books in a library sale. My boyfriend and I have now officially been together for 15 years (dear god), and I found these books before I ever even met him! I was thinking about just recapping the books from the start because it's been so long or just posting the original recaps. What do you think? It's weird because I don't even have a lot of memories about the series! Elizabeth got “fat,” which means she gained *gasp* 20 pounds instead of just 15, Jessica went all crazy and briefly married that guy who was kind of abusive until he was seriously injured, Steven and Billie almost had to get married because she was pregnant, and Lila married a count before coming back a widow and hooking up with Bruce. Oh...

Contrary to Rumors, I am Still Alive

Well, I didn't realize so much time passed between my last post and today. Things were pretty bad there for a while. I got through COVID and then my world just fell apart. I'm hoping I can start posting again at least semi-regularly. If anyone is still out there, expect to see a new post a month.

I'm Baaacccckkkk (Update)

I don't know if there's anyone still out there. I like to think that there's at least one person breathlessly checking the blog daily and waiting for any sign of an update, but that's probably just me. So, how crazy has this last year been? COVID pretty much knocked me and millions of other people on our collective asses. I went from making jokes about Captain Trips that no one understood to realizing that this was pretty damn serious. As much as I wish I could blame the pandemic for my lack of posting, it's been more of a combination of things. 1 – My boyfriend went from a factory job with a good paycheck to landing on unemployment that took months to pay. At some point, they decided that he made too much and dropped his payments to $54/week. You try living on that! 2 – I became the breadwinner of the house just in time for my clients to start dropping like flies. It turns out that when there's a global pandemic, you don't really want to p...

Nancy Drew Books?

January 18, 2014 Edit: Thanks for all the feedback guys! It looks like I'll just stick around here to recap the Nancy Drew books. I have no clue yet when I'll put my first one up. I picked up one of the more modern books from a book sale, started reading it, and loved it. The only weird thing is that Nancy goes missing, so George, Ned, and Bess have to work together to find her. I didn't realize that so many of you loved her as much as I do LOL.  I know that this blog gets a lot of page views even if people don't necessarily comment a lot. For those who do read or comment, I have a question. Would anyone be interested in seeing recaps from Nancy Drew books? I have quite a few of the older books that came out in the late 80s/early 90s when Nancy was in college, but I also have some of the newer books and some of the originals. My first thought was to create a separate blog, but now I'm not sure. I already cover so many books on here, from Goosebumps and Sweet...

A Little Update

Today marks something of a milestone for the blog. According to Blogger, YA Revisited hit 100,000 pageviews today! When I started the blog back in 2009, I didn't know if I would ever see any pageviews except for my own. I told my family and friends about it, but I was pretty surprised when other people started reading it. I even had a quote from the blog wind up on another site! Originally, I wanted to blog about Christopher Pike, Sweet Valley High, Fear Street, and the Point Thriller series, which were the books I read as a teenager. I started including The Baby-Sitters Club just because I found a few at a thrift store, and it reminded me of how much I loved those books. Then, I added Sweet Valley Twins, and eventually, I started blogging about books that I never read like Sweet Valley Kids and Goosebumps. The most popular posts (or most read posts) are: - The Babysitter - Twins (Caroline B. Cooney) - Fear Street Cheerleaders: The FirstEvil - Fear Street...

Boo to Big Book Sale LOL

So my annual big book sale was almost a complete bust! I usually go on Friday night, even though they charge an admission fee. Since a few friends wanted to go this year, we decided just to wait until Saturday. I found 3 BSC books I didn't have and 6 or 7 Sweet Valley Twins books. The only Sweet Valley High books I found were the early super specials and early books, which I already have. I also found multiple copies of The Snowman, but I somehow already own three copies. I love vintage cookbooks, but I passed up any at the sale. All the money goes to charity, but I think the price marking people forgot that! I picked up one vintage cake book and saw a $6 price tag! They had a separate "collectibles" room that was even more expensive. I passed up a Paula Deen autobiography because at $7, I figured I could find it cheaper at a thrift store. We did go back on Sunday because they were hosting a $5 bag sale and collectible books were half-price, or at least that is what t...

Guess Who is Back? :-)

Image
Well, after fighting with Google for several months, I can finally access my blog again! Basically, I tried logging in one day and discovered my account suspended for "unusual activity". That also meant no access to my blogs! I went through the verification process and still could not log into my account. I contacted Google from multiple email accounts and tried the phone verification, but nothing worked. When I added my cell phone, I never heard anything back. From what I read online, it did not look good. I eventually setup a Wordpress blog, but I never really liked it. I desperately needed access to my old email access, tried one more time and low and behold, it actually worked. I have full access to my email and Blogger account again. On the bad side, I logged in three times to my email account and had to change my password twice, so I have no clue what is going on. So, what have I been up to? * Reading, a lot! I have tons of reviews coming up. * Buying books. I...

Catch-Up

For some reason, some of my SVU recaps didn't post originally. That probably explains why I was jumping so many books lol. I'm going to just post them now and once I get caught up, I'll have the last 7-10 books of the series reviewed all in a row :-)
