Jessica and Elizabeth are heading to France yet again, only this time they’re working as au pairs for a wealthy French prince and princess. Apparently Jess heard about the job through their dad and got the job, but they wanted someone with more experience too, hence Liz’s role in everything. I guess those six times she sat for Mr. Collins is really going to pay off! Right before they leave for the trip, Lila throws them a huge goodbye party. Liz wants the chance to spend some time alone with Todd and make sure he knows how she feels. When he makes a comment about long distance relationships not working out, she thinks about what happened with Ken when Todd moved to Vermont. Abby and her sister Gabriella are arguing because Abby wants to rush a sorority. Gabriella keeps saying that they won’t accept her, but she keeps insisting. Gabriella sneaks out of the room, just as their mom arrives. They talk for a few minutes and then Abby leaves for the meeting. At first she’s kind of excited about things, but then she runs into people she knew from high school, including Nina and Leila. Nina is a former friend that she lost contact with, while Leila is a homewrecking bitch. She also meets Jessie, a loudmouth girl who wouldn’t have a shot at the sorority if it weren’t for being a legacy. Afterwards, she hangs out with Nina and kind of pumps her for information on this guy Gordon. Apparently she and Gordon were super happy, until her best friend Leila started dating him on the side. No major event can occur without the BSC finding a way to capitalize on it. This time, it’s a blizzard that strikes town. The weather forecast keeps calling for snow, but it never comes. Once it does, all the club members are stuck in some unique situation. Kristy asks them to write about their experiences and then contacts the newspaper, which agrees to publish their stories. Good luck fitting 200+ pages into a newspaper article! Kristy invites Bart over to watch a few movies and eat dinner. The kids drive her crazy by hanging out all the time and calling him her boyfriend, but they have fun together. When the blizzard hits, Bart gets stranded at her house and has to spend the night. Originally, I planned on doing a straight recap of Sweet Valley Confidential, but I just can’t do it. I think I’ll just do a couple of separate blog posts to cover stuff in the books. Be warned guys, I despised this book. Sweet Valley Confidential could have been so great, but this wasn’t great at all. There are some big spoilers here too, so if you don’t want to read spoilers, then skip this post. I thought I’d start with the 5 biggest disappointments in Sweet Valley Confidential. #1- Major changes to the overall characters that we know and love. Lila, who was one of the best parts about Sweet Valley University, is now back to a spoiled, bitchy character. She doesn’t even make funny quips: she’s just there to throw a party, be a bridesmaid and screw around on her husband. Steven is now a philandering husband that cheats on his wife constantly. Mary Anne is sitting for Carolyn and Marilyn Arnold, when she decides to take them to see Elvira the goat. Mrs. Stone talks to her a little while the girls play and asks if she’s ever meet Mrs. Towne, who lives down the street. She loves gardening and quilting and Mary Anne is hooked. She’s suddenly decided that she wants to learn more about sewing, but she doesn’t know how to contact her and she thinks asking is too forward. Kristy suggests she just call her and she finally decides to do it. Mrs. Towne asks Mary Anne to stop by for a visit. She shows her all of her quilts and some of her work and they have tea together. Mrs. Towne offers to give her lessons on sewing. Mary Anne arrives early for their first lesson, but no one answers the door.
