The Unicorn Club #23: Trapped in the Mall

Image
Kimberly Haver is like way more mature, responsible, and sophisticated than any other member of the Unicorn Club. I know this because she says it roughly 387 times in this book. The girls are all at the mall hanging out before Lila's driver picks them up and takes them back to her house for the night. Kimberly is already annoyed that the girls hate her favorite movie star when they come across an ad for an older movie. Since she remembers seeing it in the theater when she was a whopping six years old and her friends don't, she just rolls her eyes and thinks about how she's so much older than them. Lila then makes the mistake of seeing someone and trying to cover it up, but it turns out that she has a crush on Jerry McAllister. Even though he's always been a dick, she suddenly likes him. Kimberly suggests asking him if he likes Lila, but Lila flips out and runs off to do some more shopping, though she does pause to wonder if maybe he really does like her.

Sweet Valley High #86: Jessica Against Bruce

Image
Bruce Patman is totally fed up with how lame Sweet Valley is and wants something that will rock all their socks off. That's what convinces him to come up with an idea for Club X. He shows up at school one day with a black leather motorcycle jacket on that has a big X in white across the back. Then Ronnie Edwards starts wearing the same jacket. Before long, Tad Johnson joins their crew. Though everyone wants to know the deal, Bruce just tells them that it's his new secret club. Only members can know what they do. Jessica decides that she wants to join, but Bruce refuses because it's a club just for dudes. Lila, Amy, and Jessica all agree to do whatever it takes to get an invite and find out the big secret. This leads to a huge fight in the middle of the cafeteria with the girls pointing out all the things women did in the past and the guys claiming that they're just better. Bruce finally breaks down and says the girls can join, but to no one's surprise, Am

The Baby-Sitters Club #6: Kristy's Big Day

Image
We're going way back in time for this one, to a time when Elizabeth, Kristy's mom, and Watson finally set their wedding day. They ask all the kids to be involved in the ceremony. Kristy is the bridesmaid, Charlie will give her away, Sam will be the best man, Karen will be the flower girl, and I can't remember what the heck David Michael does. Andrew says he doesn't want to be part of it at all. Things quickly go to hell in a hand basket. Elizabeth finds out that work needs to send her on a trip during the original wedding date. She pushed the wedding date back and then got a call that someone wants to buy the house and wants them out in a month. The end result is that they need to get married in two weeks. She flips out and immediately starts going through the house before deciding to focus on the wedding plans. Multiple people, including family and friends, offer to help. Both of Kristy's aunts announce that they're coming to town early, and so
