Sweet Valley High #110: Death Threat

Image
Let's recap again, just in case you missed any parts of this absolutely insane story! Sweet Valley High #107: Jessica's Secret Love Sweet Valley High #108: Left at the Altar   Sweet Valley High #109: Double-Crossed     Jessica throws herself at Jeremy because even though he literally just got caught making out with Sue, he came back for her! He has no time to celebrate though because, you know, Sue went missing. Jeremy shows them Sue's necklace as proof that someone took her. Jessica thinks the whole thing is ridiculous and that Sue probably made the whole thing up just to trap him. Come on, Jess, it's not like she took a page from your playbook. Jeremy and the twins head out to the woods to look for her. He makes Jessica go by herself and sends Elizabeth in a different way. While they're out looking, he sneaks inside the cabin and pulls down a trap door to get into the attic where Sue is waiting. Jeremy then gives her a recorder and makes her promise that she...

Sweet Valley High #109: Double-Crossed

I have no clue how I read these books so far out of order, but to recap: Sweet Valley High #107: Jessica's Secret Love Sweet Valley High #108: Left at the Altar     This book takes place after Jess interrupted Jeremy and Sue's wedding, so she's now temporarily living at Fowler Crest. Lila kind of thinks that the whole thing is romantic but wonders if her friend made the right decision. Liz calls to tell her twin that Ned and Alice are seriously talking about sending her to boarding school. Jess blows the whole thing off because as soon as they see that she and Jeremy are truly in love, they'll understand everything. The new lovebirds go out like twice before Jeremy tells her that he has to leave town on a Project Nature assignment in Costa Rica. He promises that he'll only be gone a few weeks and when he comes back, he can transfer to their office in California. Before he leaves, he gives her an engagement ring, the same on that she picked out when shopping ...

Sweet Valley High #38: Leaving Home

Image
So this is one of the earlier books where Regina was still alive. Since coming back from Switzerland, all she can talk about is how much she loved it and how gorgeous everything was. When Liz hears about her experiences, she starts thinking that it would be the perfect place to study writing. Lucky for her, there's some fancy boarding school with a creating writing program. And even more luckily, they have a scholarship for girls exactly like her. In a poor attempt at being good parents, Ned and Alice decide not to tell her hell no right off the bat and instead wait for her to get more information. The packet comes in the mail with the news that she still has time to apply, not a ton of time but enough if she's willing to ignore everything else in her life. Can you see where this is going? This makes Liz decide that she should focus on nothing but herself in the coming weeks for once in her life (ha!). She constantly blows off Jeffrey, remember that poor guy? Thou...

Sweet Valley High #71: Starring Jessica!

Image
Eric Parker is some dude who graduated from Sweet Valley High and now hosts a national talk show. He announced plans to have a real high school student on to talk about what life is like for the typical American teenager. The teenager he picks will be someone from Sweet Valley. Everyone goes overboard to fill out their applications and get picked. Jessica assumes that her only real competition is Lila. She asks for Liz's help with her application, especially the section on her hobbies and interests. It's lots of boys, shopping, and hanging out with not much else. Liz reminds her that she was a babysitter before and that she worked as a hospital volunteer, which is not something I would personally want to remember. Jessica gets annoyed when she sees that Lila left out all the information about her rich dad though. Liz also suggests that Jessica write an article for the paper. She comes up with an idea about bad dates, which Penny loves. Liz convinces her to chan...

Sweet Valley High Magna Edition: Elizabeth's Secret Diary

Image
This is the very first magna edition in the Sweet Valley High series and the first Secret Diary book too! It takes place between Todd leaving for Vermont and Liz hooking up with Jeffrey, for the first time if you count their relationship in Sweet Valley Senior Year. So, Liz and Todd are making out in his room and on top of his desk when Ken calls. While they talk, she starts going through the papers to see what they were sitting on and finds a letter from this chick named Michelle. It's full of little flirty jokes, including her calling him cute buns, which is absolutely scandalous. Michelle ends the note with kisses and wishes that he was still in Vermont. This sends Liz off the deep end. She seriously accuses Todd of cheating on her and waves the letter in his face as proof that he has some secret girlfriend back in Vermont. Todd is at first upset and then extremely pissed off that she would dare to read his private letters. They basically break up, though really, L...

Sweet Valley High #141: A Picture Perfect Prom?

Image
Despite the fact that she made the decision to dump both Todd and Devon, Elizabeth can't stop moping around about how she's lonely and misses them both. She joins the prom planning committee to take her mind off things, only to find out that Todd also joined. They start spending a lot of time together, which leads to weird moments like Todd wanting to kiss her ankle and telling her she has perfect ankles while holding a ladder. Liz realizes that she really misses him and all the time they spent together. Jessica and Lila get so caught up with finding the perfect dresses that they completely forget about finding dates. They decide to rank the hot guys at Sweet Valley and write down lists of their best and worst qualities. For example, Aaron has really sexy legs but is also cranky. Bruce kisses like a live jellyfish, and Peter DeHaven is cruel because of how he treated Johanna. Liz rushes off to a meeting and can't find her notebook, so she takes Jessica's...

Sweet Valley High #139: Elizabeth is Mine

Image
Todd is all in shock that Jessica would accuse his beautiful and wonderful girlfriend of cheating on him for the 400 th time and kind of refuses to believe it. She tells him exactly where to find them and then throws herself at him. In her eyes, it's the perfect payback to her twin stealing her man. Todd turns her down and tells her to help herself to the feast he made for Liz before leaving. He drives around town before heading to the school, and after seeing Liz and Devon still going at he, he just takes off. Jessica devours the lobster salad and all the other stuff Todd made for her twin while fuming to herself. After eating way too much, she decides to get back at Liz. Liz and Devon are still freaking making out until it starts raining. She heads home while feeling like she's walking on air, only to find Jessica waiting for her. Jess makes a few comments and then tells Liz she looked for her. Liz keeps making up excuses until Jess drops the news that she s...
