So, I never read the book that came before this one, which sucks because this one picks up where that one left off. Apparently, Nancy helped solve a mystery on a film set and wound up getting a role in the flick. Harold, the cheese shop owner, also got a job in the movie. It's all about the big Rackham robbery that happened during the 19 th century. See, the Rackham Gang stole money from Ethan Mahoney, who owned the blacksmith shop in town. They took the money he got from the railroad to build parts for them. He would up bankrupt, but his heirs later made a ton of money and became the richest people in town. The two Rackham boys had a sister, Esther, who tried to stop them before leaving town. Ethan confronted the guys and was then attacked by a wild cat. Esther found him and after nursing him back to health, they married and never talked about what happened. When the book picks up, Nancy is all super nervous about the job and worried about acting in front of other ...

Nancy just finished up a case and spent the last 30 hours on her feet, but she promised Ned that she'd go to a lecture with him at his college. Bess and George meet them there. Tracey Gaines, the granddaughter of two famous gangsters, just finished up a big project and wants to share what she learned. Nancy keeps falling asleep, and at one point, Ned wakes her up. She notices him wearing a suit exactly like every other man in the crowd, and all the women are in dresses. A newspaper she finds lists the date as 1930, the same year the woman researched. Bess and George find a very confused Nancy outside and start talking about taking bread to Hooverville. It seems as though Nancy really did go back in time and landed smack dab in the middle of the Great Depression. After seeing Hooverville, they stumble across the Smith family. Clay Gaines and his partner, Edward Parker, are in the midst of evicting the family from their home. Bob lost the house while gambling. Nancy offers...

Nancy is off to New York City after winning a River Heights beauty pageant and becoming the local face of Pretty Face, a big deal cosmetics company. She dislikes the lotion they told her to wear so much that she hands over all her free samples to Bess. Bess loves how it tingles, but Nancy finds the sensation uncomfortable and weird. As soon as they land, they meet Kyle, the owner of the company, and his daughter Kelly. Kelly won the competition the year before. Almost as soon as they check into their hotel rooms, with Nancy and Kelly sharing one room and George and Bess in another, Nancy gets a list of all the events and activities she must attend. The first of which is an opening night party that brings together all the winners and the runner ups. Piper, the runner up to Nancy, makes it clear that she deserved to win more than Nancy did. The lights suddenly go out and then come back to reveal a bunch of costumed actors on stage. They all wear this grotesque makeup that...

In a previous case, Nancy and the gang met a fashion designed named Alicia. She's now a hot star and opening a new shop in River Heights. Someone throws a rock through the plate glass window that causes everyone to freak out and run. A young girl gets trampled in the commotion. Since this is River Heights, the Chief of Police himself comes out to shut down the opening. He tells them that they can come back the next day but that they will all get numbers that determine when they can enter the store. The man starts towards the police station before his wife grabs his arm and drags him away.
