Point Thriller: Hide and Seek (Jane McFann)

Image
Hey! This is one I never read or had when I was younger. This should be interesting! The End. Lissa is all alone and thinking about how she'll die in just a few short minutes. While stroking the head of Bird, her pet bird, she realizes that Bird is just about the only thing she might miss other than Josh. Though she thinks she might be wrong about who is outside and coming for her, she knows in her heart that her time is up. She slowly begins dying and realizes that it's nothing like it is in the movies and that she doesn't see her life flashing before her eyes. The Beginning. Lissa flashes back to her early life and remembers her mom warning her not to disrupt her dad. She recalls her mom grabbing her arm and snapping at her to be quiet before calming down and saying they should read a book together. Her dad enters the room and demands to know what all the commotion was about earlier. She then remembers swinging on the playground and thinking abou...

Point Thriller - Nightmare Hall #5: The Scream Team (Diane Hoh)

Image
In the very short prologue, the cheerleading team from Salem University are competing in the regional championship. Someone keeps watching them from the shadows and whispering about how they will get what is coming to them soon enough. Apparently Salem University does cheerleading in a completely different way than any other school in the world. All the girls trying out live in a dormitory called Abby House, even though classes already started and they presumably already live on campus. Delle is a new freshman who tries out because she was a cheerleader in junior high and high school. It totally kicks her ass and makes her think back to her high school boyfriend, Warren, who she dumped after he proposed to her. The girls also meet Marla and Rory, who are the co-captains of the squad and Jennifer, one of the other cheerleaders. Marla later tells them that the reason they need new cheerleaders is because the old squad died in a bus accident. The bus crashed and e...

The Experiment opens with the Professor sitting in his office and talking about some young woman. The Professor says she never even visited his office before and that she has no idea of the predators watching her every move. We then jump right into the action. Professor Maximillion DeLure is the hottest teacher at Salem University. Caryl tells her best friend Anna all about how she thinks he's gorgeous, and Anna briefly mentions that there are some weird rumors about him on campus. We also meet Anna's love interest Nicholas and Carl who is the professor's assistant. Carl talks a little about the new class seminar called Poets and Scientists. Since Caryl really wants to be a writer, she wants in that seminar. She applied for a spot and rushes back to see if she got an invite. When she reaches in her mailbox, a hand grabs her and starts tugging on her. Just as she starts screaming, she realizes it's the mail guy, Ben. Ben and Caryl have been dating, and h...

There's some blah, blah, blah prologue from someone talking about killing a date before the book jumps to Demi. Demi is a super hot red head with pale skin who likes wear skintight clothing. The Salem newspaper recently introduced a personal ads section. Her best friend Shannon thinks the whole thing sounds cray-cray, but Demi thinks it would be fun to put an ad in the paper and maybe meet someone special. Instead of just putting up an ad like a normal person, she goes to the newspaper office and suggests writing an article about her experiences. She later tells Shannon and this European student Gigi that she has her first date set up for that weekend. Before she can go out with the guy, her old boyfriend Jack shows up. The bridesmaid, actually Allison, doesn't laugh it off because it goes between her fingers and nicks one. The photographer and his assistant just keep snapping pictures and oohing and ahhing. Anyway, she's now some huge supermodel and she invited her younger cousin to come to her wedding early, go to some huge party with her fancy f...

Point Thriller: The Dead Girlfriend (R.L. Stine)

Jonathon is bad news. We know this because that's how Annie, our heroine, introduces him at the very beginning. She just moved to town with her parents and her little brother Caleb, and she decides to take a trip up to the falls in town, which the real estate agent told them was one of the best in the country. When she sees a man getting ready to jump, she drops her bike and runs to help him. No worries though. It's actually just Jonathon. We know he's super cute because she describes him as looking like Luke Perry with James Dean hair. Mm, James Dean. After saying he was meeting someone up there, he does a little flirting with Annie before walking her back to her bike. Turns out that someone slashed her tires but there is no one else around. While helping her back to town, Jonathon runs into his friend Ruby. Ruby spends far too much time rubbing on him, flirting with him, and ignoring Annie, but that doesn't stop him from inviting her to a party later that w...
